sweden day 2: meanwhile in sweden

TRANSLATION: After conquering the sushi we headed towards Långholmen, for some chill and swimming possibilities - except the water was ice cold so the only thing that got in the water on my part was my feet and legs. Sweden's monopoly system on alcohol is the total opposite to what we're used to in Australia, but got that checked off our  list. We had a little Swedish beer and cider-test happening as we got amazed by how long the sun stays up and that it's still light outside by 9-10 in the evening.

sweden day 2: pedestrians in the city and some more ducks

TRANSLATION: Since we had some fresh meat who had never been in Sweden before, we took upon us the hard task of showing some of the typical attractions the big city had to offer. Except we kind of got sidetracked... To begin with we had to walk through the Swedish picturesque suburbs with the cute Svensson-villas to get to a train station and actually buy the metro-cards (silly Swedes and their no cash on bus policy). Once in the city we were meant to explore the Old Town district but ended up taking the ferry to Djurgården with our spanking brand new metro-cards. For some reason there was a whole load of bird watching. After hours and hour of walking we finally refueled with an massive sushi-boat - seriously, check out the size of that!

sweden day 1: how a stroll to the shops turns into a duck adventure

TRANSLATION: The first day we spent mostly around the suburbs where my sister lives, had a long stroll to the supermarket and utilized it to  play in playgrounds and explore your typical swedish suburbia/country side feeling in the middle of a city, which includes feeding ducks with a whole loaf of bread.  Fil also confused a field of purple for lavender when in fact it was only thistles. A field of thistles. Picking wild currant and summer berries is one of the things I've missed. Back in Australia you'll most likely come across lemon and limes growing in the wild, at least around the area we live...
