leederville carnival

Kan vi ta oss tillbaka till första veckan i December en stund? Det var strålande sol och en hel del var på gång i Leederville. Perth har blivit lite besatt i att hålla i gatu-festivaler och det var dags igen. Förutom en double-decker buss som fick bli konst-utställning på botten-våningen och DJ-bås på taket så fanns massa kreativa marknads-stånd, vintage, mat (ohmygawd fuuuuudddggee!) och musik på alla håll och kanter. Alla papperskorgar blev pyntade av konstnärliga själar och väggar täcktes av färgglad graffiti. Mitt sällskap var arbetskollegan Pedro och efter kaffe och morgon-muffin så kände vi att det passade väl med en kall öl, eller två, innan vi tog en paus i några timmar och åkte hem för vi båda skulle komma tillbaka på kvällen och jobba. Då var träden täckta i små fairy-lights och huvud-korsningen i Leederville sken av ljus.

TRANSLATION: Let us go back to the first week of December for a while. When the sun was scorching and Perth was going crazy with street festivals. It was time for Leederville to be in the spotlight and they lit the main section up by covering the trees in fairylights that are still shining bright when it gets dark. Besides a double-decker bus that functioned as an art-gallery and a DJ-booth in one, there were plenty of market stalls with food, vintage goods and artistic knick-knacks as well as music and art-installations everywhere. Artistic souls gave bins a facelift and walls got covered in colorful graffiti. My company for the day was co-worker Pedro and after morning coffee we felt a cold beer (or two) in the sun was a perfect option. Both of us were going to work later that same night so we headed home for a few hours before returning to find the whole carnival lit up and sweat the night away behind the bar.
